Galpin-Fisker Rocket puts a 725-hp Mustang in a tailored suit

"Coachbuilt muscle car" really isn't a thing. If you have enough money to want a full custom body on your vehicle, you're likely thinking of something expensive and European. Muscle-car customizers generally work with a lower budget (and still impressive results.) Today, Los Angeles dealer-tuner Galpin Motor Sports unveiled its unique venture into that uncharted space with a car it's calling the Rocket, penned by the man behind the Fisker Karma.
The Galpin-Fisker Rocket starts with a 2015 Ford Mustang GT massaged to 725 hp, then draped in a hand-built, carbon-fiber skin designed by Henrik Fisker. The founder of the failed, eponymous automaker, Fisker had previously penned coachbuilt variants of BMWs, and approached Galpin in August with the design of the Rocket.

Michelin Putting Tweel Airless Tire Into Production

Combining a tire and wheel into a single airless 'tweel' has proven to be a popular concept, although it still hasn't gone mainstream. Michelin is the latest company to announce a production tweel, but not for any automotive applications—just yet.
It will open a dedicated tweel-producing factory in Piedmont, South Carolina, this week. However these airless tires will be used on skid-steer loaders and certain models of John Deere lawnmower, not cars.
Michelin's design uses a steel center hub that bolts on just like a conventional wheel. The spokes are poly-resin and can deform around obstacles, but there's still an outer tread like on conventional tires that can be made in different patterns for different applications. Since there's nothing to inflate, there's also no possibility of getting a flat.
That—along with the potential weight savings of combining tire and wheel—has led to plenty of tweel experimentation since Michelin introduced the concept in 2005. Both Bridgestone and Hankook have demonstrated their own airless-tire concepts. Hankook has also claimed NVH improvements because of the shock-absorbing qualities of its design.
If you want to get your hands on a set of tweels, but don't operate a loader or lawnmower for a living, Polaris also offers them on its Sportsman WV850 H.O. ATV, a military-inspired off-road vehicle that really puts this technology to the test.

Michelin's airless tyres could mean the end of punctures

Michelin's Tweels combine the tyre and the wheel into one unit that can't get a puncture

Michelin is opening a factory that will focus on making airless tyres that don’t get punctures.
The $50 million plant will be used to make the 'Tweels', which bring together the tyre and the wheel into a single solid unit.
Tweels have a moulded-treat rubber band like conventional tyres mounted on a metal hub in the centre. Between the tread and the metal hub are flexible spokes which can deform under pressure.
But there's no pneumatic element to the these wheels, meaning an end to flat tyres. This means no maintenance and no downtime.
At the moment these Tweels are being developed for commercial vehicles involved in agriculture, construction and refuse and recycling - but further development could bring the technology into the passenger vehicle space.
The Tweel was first introduced back in 2005, but this marks the first commitment to mass producing them for commercial vehicles. They do still need replacing with wear, but nowhere nearly as quickly as pneumatic tyres.
There are other airless tyres on the market including some completely solid rubber ones, but Michelin says that it’s version doesn't lead to diminished traction and handling.

When pigs fly? Not on this US Airways plane

WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. (AP) — This was a pig that truly could not fly.
The pig was ordered off a U.S. Airways plane at Bradley International Airport in Connecticut on Wednesday after crewmembers determined the animal had become disruptive.
Laura Masvidal, a spokeswoman for U.S. Airways parent American Airlines, said Friday the pig was brought aboard by a passenger as an emotional support animal.
She said both the pig and its owner left the aircraft before it took off.
Jonathan Skolnik, a University of Massachusetts professor who was also a passenger, told ABC News that the pig — which he estimated to weigh about 50-70 pounds, was on a leash but began walking back and forth.
Masdival says under federal guidelines emotional support animals are allowed on commercial flights as long as they're not disruptive.

6 awesome turkey sandwiches to make this year

On Thanksgiving, there are plenty of us who just want to fast-forward to the really good stuff: that first leftover turkey sandwich on white bread, slathered in mayo. But after, oh, two of these, it’s time to start mixing it up. Try one of these mouth-watering numbers:
Waffled Cranberry-Cream Cheese
Courtney Rowland / Neighbor Food
1. Waffled cranberry-cream cheese turkey sandwiches: When Courtney Rowland of Neighbor Food got sick of her go-to leftover sandwich (turkey and Miracle Whip on sweet Hawaiian rolls), she created this makeover of the Monte Cristo: a turkey sandwich on crispy waffles, with a cranberry-cream cheese filling, arugula and a dusting of powdered sugar. It’s even fancy enough for a weekend brunch, she adds.
Turkey Grinder
Anthony Pino
2. Ultimate turkey grinder: Guests staying at the Four Seasons Resort Vail can order this show-stopping Thanksgiving sandwich in the lounge or via room service this year, but for those of us who can’t make the trip, chef Kevin Erving gave us the secrets to what he calls the “Ultimate Turkey Ciabatta Grinder.” Start with crusty bread (like ciabatta). Slice and grill it. Layer on turkey, stuffing, mayo, cranberry sauce, roasted sweet potatoes, roasted Brussels sprouts, and — wait for it — celery leaves (a classic chef trick). Eat it hot, or dip in warm gravy, he says.
Stuffed Turkey Sandwich
300 Sandwiches
3. Stuffed sandwich: Fans of the New Orleans muffaletta will dig this stuffed sandwich from Stef Smith, author of the blog 300 Sandwiches. Cut a “lid” out of a round of white bread, then hollow it out, and layer in lettuce and any leftovers you’d like (turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce). Replace the “lid” and flatten with a heavy pan or other weights before serving. Smith, a sandwich fanatic who has several other to-die-for turkey sandwiches on her site, says she’ll be unveiling even more leading up to the big day.
Leftover Turkey BLT
Laurie McNamara
4. Caesar BLT Club: Fans of Caesar salad will love this take on a classic turkey club from Laurie McNamara, author of Simply Scratch. She makes her own dressing from scratch — and promises homemade mayo is not as scary to make as it sounds (though you could cheat it with store-bought). Bacon and sturdy whole grain bread are musts.
Turkey-Cucumber Sandwich
Shay Shull
5. Healthy cucumberFor those feeling overstuffed the day after T-Day, try this idea from food blogger Shay Shull: She slathers thin sandwich bread with garlic-herb cheese and layers on turkey and cucumber slices for a leftover sandwich that could pass as spa food.
Turkey Wrap
Amy Johnson
6. Hummus wrap: South Carolina food blogger Amy Johnson uses up her turkey and cranberry sauce in these four-ingredient wraps. The final ingredient, after the tortillas? Hummus — something you’re likely to have on hand during the holidays, too.

A pool on the middle deck, a VIP suite and a sky lounge: Italian designer unveils plans for stunning 164ft superyacht made out of BRONZE

Italian superyacht designer Federico Fiorentino has revealed a new concept that could one day be a floating playground for a billionaire and his or her celebrity friends.
The luxury vessel, called The Belafonte, is a superyacht on steroids with a massive bow and striking bronze exterior that catches the sun’s reflection off the sea.
At 164ft in length, the aluminium yacht takes full advantage of its outdoor space, boasting three decks with plenty of room for lounging or partying.

With room for up to ten overnight guests, the mini-cruise ship has five luxurious cabins, including a large VIP suite, two twin cabins and a double cabin.
The owner will retire to the largest room of all. At nearly 900 square feet, it has a separate studio, balcony, walk-in closets and two bathrooms.
Guests will be pampered by the ship’s crew as they relax in a saloon, outdoor dining area, pool or a shaded sky lounge.

Renderings of the impressive superyacht show a hot tub surrounded by sunloungers on the top deck, while the spacious middle deck boasts a small pool just steps from a large, circular table for alfresco dining.
The front of the upper deck features a private lounge for sunbathing.
According to the Superyacht Times, the vessel has a top speed between 18 and 24 knots (20 to 27mph), and the Milan-based designer has already garnered interest from a potential buyer.

How to Recover After a Giant Holiday Meal

Thanksgiving meal

Follow our experts’ step-by-step plan for getting back on track after overeating this holiday season

This article originally appeared on RealSimple.com.
When you’re stuffed to the point of discomfort after an indulgent holiday dinner, you might be wondering what it’s going to take to feel like your healthy self again. Here, nutrition and fitness experts share advice to help you get back on track after overeating—without starving yourself or doing hours of cardio.
First things first: Stop beating yourself up!“Feeling guilty doesn’t lead to healthier eating and is more often associated with perpetuating emotional and binge eating behaviors,” says Torey Jones Armul, RDN, National Spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. You can’t go backward: Tell yourself you’ll start making healthier decisions starting right now.
Go for a walk. This can aid digestion and possibly help decrease the fat your body stores, says Marta Montenegro, exercise physiologist and nutrition specialist. One study showed that when subjects took a light walk after a high-fat meal, they decreased their post-meal triglyceride concentration (the type of fat your body stores to use for energy) by around 70 percent compared to the non-walking group.
Get leftovers out of sight. Whether you encourage guests to take leftovers with them, or stick them in containers to store in your freezer, moving extra food out of sight and out of mind will help you return to your normal healthy eating routine over the next few days, Jones Armul says. “Portioning out leftover foods in single-serving containers prolongs the food’s shelf life, helps with portion control and slows down the urge to chow down on those tempting dishes,” she says.
Note the damage, but don’t let it define you. If stepping on the scale the day after Thanksgiving will help you get back on track with a healthier eating mindset, then do it, but don’t assume the scale shows true weight gain. It may be up a few notches, but that just reflects water retention, says Molly Morgan, RD, author of Skinny-Size It. There are 3,500 calories in a pound, so to have actually gained three or four pounds, you would’ve had to consume more than 10,500 to 14,000 extra calories! Even though our experts and other sources estimate the average American might take in 2,000 to 4,500 calories over the course of Thanksgiving day eating, that still only adds up to about a pound at the most. “Increase your fluid intake for the next few days to help flush out the extra water,” Morgan says.
Improve your next meal. If you overdid the calories at one meal, keep the next meal lighter, but still satisfying by filling it halfway with vegetables, says Erin Palinski-Wade, RD, CDE, author of Belly Fat Diet For Dummies. Then fill out the remainder of the plate with lean protein options.
Track your calories for the next few days. Record your food intake on a smartphone app (like Lose It! or MyFitnessPal) or with pen and paper for a couple of days to get back to your eating routine, suggests Morgan. One study showed that self-monitoring consistently during the holiday season helped the study participants minimize weight gain.
Calm your stressed system with yoga. Your body is under stress after a big meal, says Montenegro. Yoga can help by activating the parasympathetic nervous system, the one that lowers blood pressure, heart rate, and relaxes the stomach nerves. Doing yoga has also been shown to increase the response of feel-good neurochemicals like serotonin and the oxytocin hormone, so you’ll feel happier, more relaxed, and ready to move on with your healthy goals after this particular overeating session. In one study, Iyengar style yoga helped reduce Irritable Bowel Syndrome symptoms, such as abdominal pain, fatigue, constipation, and other digestive issues.
Tack on a few more intense workouts. Maximize calorie burn by doing moderate- to high-intensity exercises—they’ll increase your metabolism for 12 to 24 hours after you’re done working out, says Montenegro. Do 15 reps of each of squats, shoulder presses, lateral side raises, bent over rows, biceps curls, triceps extensions, side bends, pushups and leg raises. Then repeat the circuit one or two more times.
Focus on your food intake over the course of a week rather than day-to-day, suggests Palinski-Wade:“Don’t let one ‘bad’ meal or day define you.”

Air hostess Zuhal, from Instanbul was fired after bosses saw her pictures in an Italian magazine.
A video of the shoot has appeared on YouTube showing the stunning model showing off her curves in a skimpy bikini.
Zuhal is a campaigner for the vegan lifestyle and also holds a black belt in Karate.
Last year the airline banned staff from wearing lipstick and colourful makeup.
Airlines bosses admit that Turkey is becoming more religious as conservative Islam becomes more prevalent.
President of the airline's Hava-Is labour union, Atilay Aycin, said: "This new guideline is totally down to Turkish Airlines management's desire to shape the company to fit its own political and ideological stance.

A statement from Turkish Airlines (THY) said: "Simple make-up, immaculate and in pastel colours, is preferred for staff working in the service sector."
But after an uproar across social media, bosses withdrew the lipstick ban and said it was all a big misunderstanding.
Temel Kotil, the airline's chief executive said: "As to the lipstick, we had no problems but somehow low-level managers put together a paper without asking us and that paper was leaked to the media and became a big issue."

In February THY stopped serving alcohol to economy passengers on many domestic routes, saying: "There has been little demand for alcohol and it will be discontinued due to logistical considerations."
At the same time, the carrier removed alcoholic drinks entirely from flights to eight Islamic countries, saying: "Where the flag carriers of those nations do not serve liquor, THY will comply with their wishes and suspend alcoholic drink service".
Turkish Airlines is one of the fastest-growing carriers in the world, connecting Heathrow, Gatwick, Birmingham, Manchester and Edinburgh with its hub in Istanbul.

Nepal's killing fields: FIVE THOUSAND buffalo lie slaughtered at the beginning of Hindu ceremony which sees up to 300,000 animals killed to bring worshippers good luck

More than 250,000 animals are being lined up for slaughter as Nepal embarks on a two-day religious festival where buffalo, birds and goats are sacrificed to appease a Hindu goddess.
Millions of Hindus flock to the ceremony, which is held every five years at the temple of Gadhimai, the goddess of power, in Bariyarpur, Nepal, near the Indian border.
The last time the festival was held, in 2009, more than 250,000 animals were killed, according to animal rights organisation PETA, who is campaigning to put a stop to the practice.

Animal rights activists such as PETA are campaigning to halt the mass animal-slaughter, but despite their efforts, the organisers of the festival has promised that this year will be the biggest yet.
About 2.5 million devotees  have turned out for the festival, according to local government official Yogendra Prasad Dulal, who said it was 'impossible to estimate' the total number of animals sacrificed so far.
