Man Says He Was Saved By Angels After Being Crushed Under Semi Truck

Bruce Van Netta, a diesel mechanic, was working on a Peterbilt tractor when all of a sudden the jack holding up the truck was knocked out of place, dropping the 12,000+ pound tractor on top of him.
The width of his body was flattened to less than an inch as the truck lay on top of him. With a broken back, and under unimaginable pain, he went unconscious, and then opened his eyes to what he describes as angels standing around him.
Five major arteries were completely severed.
A medical study by the University of Southern California, showed that no one who’s ever sustained that much damage to five major arteries has survived.
Going by all logic and medical records, he should have been dead.
Miraculously, Bruce has since made a full recovery and lived to tell this chilling tale.

Tragic: A bin lorry driver was killed after being hit by his own truck

A bin lorry driver has died after being crushed by his own truck when he tried to stop it rolling out of a car park.
The 58-year-old man was pinned against a wall after the vehicle started rolling across the road at South Queensferry, Edinburgh.
The lorry, owned by waste services company Biffa, mounted the pavement, hit a car and then smashed through railing before it eventually ended up hanging off Hawes Pier.
Staff at the nearby Hawes Inn rushed to help the driver before emergency services attended the scene at 1.15pm yesterday.
The man, who has not been formally named, was rushed to hospital where he sadly died from his injuries.
Councillor Norman Work, who represents Edinburgh's Almond ward, said: "It's a tragic accident. It appears that the driver was trying to prevent the accident from happening.
"It's tragic but could have been a lot worse. We are grateful no one else was injured, because it's a very busy area round the whole promenade.
"Obviously our thoughts go out to the family of the driver."
A spokeswoman for the Hawes Inn said: "Our team helped out as much as they could in the moments after the accident happened and contacted the emergency services.
"We are fully cooperating with the police investigation and our thoughts are very much with the driver's family." Police in Edinburgh are now appealing for witnesses of the tragic accident to come forward.
Sergeant Brian Smith, of Police Scotland's Edinburgh Road Policing Unit, said: "This tragic accident happened as the driver tried to stop his lorry from rolling out of the car park of the Hawes Inn.
"He was crushed against the wall by the lorry, which then hit a parked Jaguar car before rolling across the road and mounting the pavement, demolishing a bench and fencing before it came to rest hanging over the edge of the pier.
"Although this is a busy road, with a number of pedestrians in the area at the time, fortunately no one else was injured.
"We are carrying out a full investigation and I am appealing for any witnesses who have not already spoken to us, to call Police Scotland on 101."

5 Things You Didn’t Know Sex Could Do for Your Career

Having more sex has been linked to lower stress levels at work and higher pay

This post is in partnership with Inc., which offers useful advice, resources and insights to entrepreneurs and business owners. Thearticle below was originally published atInc.com.
You’ve probably heard the saying “sex sells,” which is why sexy images appear so often in advertisements. But did you know sex can also improve your business and boost your career?
We often think of our business and personal lives as two entirely separate spheres, but in fact what happens at home and what happens at work often have overlapping effects. For instance, a stressful day at work can often send you home cranky, and workplace stress can elevate your blood pressure and cause everything from headaches to insomnia.
Similarly, happiness at home can have a calming effect at work, helping you make more clear-headed decisions and making you less likely to fall ill or feel overwhelmed with stress. Sure, sex sells, but it also has the power to improve your 9-to-5 life, whether you’re a worker bee or the boss. Here are just a few ways a good sex life can turn your career around:
1. People who have sex get paid more. Apparently there are some outside-of-the-bedroom perks for having more sex. One of those perks is a higher paycheck, at least according to research from the Institute for the Study of Labor. The study found people who have sex at least four times a week make more money than their peers who get less busy. It seems the correlation lies in how those who have more sex tend to be both happier and healthier, leading to more enthusiasm at work, better decisions, and less discrimination, which in turn leads to higher paychecks.
2. Sex reduces stress and prolongs health. Sex is a major stress reduction agent, which means better health and fewer sick days. According to the book Your Doctor is Wrong by Sharon Norling, frequent orgasms can increase life expectancy by three to eight years. Plus, a study by Arizona State University showed sexual behavior with a partner correlated with lower negative mood and higher positive mood the following day in middle-aged women.
3. Sex produces immune system-boosting hormones, resulting in fewer sick days. Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) is a hormone released during sexual encounters, and it has a whole host of benefits. Some of these include health benefits like reducing symptoms in women with lupus and alleviating depression. In fact, DHEA can even take years off your real age. According to a study by the Royal Edinburgh Hospital, people in their 40s who reported having 50 percent or more sex than their peers also appeared to be about seven to 13 years younger than their actual age when judged by a panel of strangers.
4. No more office migraines: Oxytocin is pain relief.Oxytocin, released during sex, is also important in pain relief. Often called the “love hormone,” oxytocin is also released during labor in order to relieve pain. With its power to help relieve pain, the hormone could keep you feel healthier in the office.
5. Entrepreneurship can actually improve your sex life.Taking control of your own destiny by becoming an entrepreneur can be empowering–and it can empower more than just your career prospects. A recent survey of entrepreneurs found 14 percent reported having more sex after ditching their 9-to-5 job. So it works both ways–more sex can help your career with better health and higher wages, and finally breaking out on your own and following your entrepreneurial dreams can lead to more sex.
You might think your career and your sex life are completely separate entities, but what happens at home and at work can often intersect in interesting ways. By spending more time with your partner, you’ll actually be improving your chances of getting that promotion or taking your business to the next level.

A boy brandishing a replica gun died Sunday after being shot by a Cleveland police officer responding to a 911 call about a person waving a gun in a park.
Deputy Chief Ed Tomba said the officer fired twice after the boy pulled the fake weapon -- which was lacking the orange safety indicator usually on the muzzle -- from his waistband.
The boy, who was 12, did not make any verbal threats toward the officer or point the gun, but reached into his waistband and grabbed it after being told to raise his hands, Tomba said.
"That's when the officer fired," he said.
The shooting happened Saturday after officers responded to reports of a male with a gun. A man who called 911 told dispatchers that the boy was at a recreation center pointing a pistol that was "probably fake" and scaring everyone.
Police said the weapon was an "airsoft" type replica gun that resembled a semi-automatic pistol. The orange safety indicator had been removed, police said.
The 911 caller said the boy was pulling the gun in and out of his pants. "I don't know if it's real or not," the caller said.
Jeff Follmer, president of the Cleveland Police Patrolmen's Association, said the officers were not told the caller thought the gun might be fake.
The officer called to the park saw the pistol sitting on a table, and watched the boy grab it and put it in his waistband, Follmer said.
Attorney Timothy Kucharski said the boy went to the park with friends Saturday afternoon, but he did not know the details of what led to the shooting. "I don't want to make a rush to judgment," he said.
He said he wants to talk to witnesses and get more facts. "We're ultimately going to find out what happened," Kucharski said.
One officer involved in the shooting was taken to a local hospital for treatment of an injury to his ankle, Fox 8 reported.
Both officers involved will be placed on administrative leave as is protocol in officer-involved shooting incidents, according to the station.

Seven people were taken into custody after a marijuana processing operation in Nevada County was raided on Wednesday.
The Nevada County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Task Force served a search warrant at a location on Kentucky Flat Road. There, they reported finding a large indoor marijuana processing area with 17 active trimming/processing stations. several hundred pounds of processed pot, 33 grams of heroin, a mason jar full of opium poppies and $16,913 in cash, sheriff's Capt. Jeff Pettitt said. There was a large marijuana stalks burn pile and the scent of marijuana.
Investigators determined the property was being rented by 23-year-old Matthew Wilkes. Pettitt said several of the 20 people on the property claimed Wilkes hired them to trim marijuana plants. They also alleged none of the marijuana belonged to them.
Arrested on marijuana and drug-related allegations and conspiracy to commit a felony were Wilkes, Michael Seban, 23, of South Lake Tahoe; Sandra Canessa, 26 of San Francisco; Ian Dominguez 26 of Pleasant Hill; Jeanne Culver, 37, from Washington; Claire Ray, 27, of Royal Oaks; and Alexandra Trupp, 32, transient.

Why you shouldn't reach for that $100 bill on your windshield

Authorities in Maryland have warned the public about a potential holiday scam that involves the temptation of a $100 bill left on a car windshield.
The simple scheme works like this: Drivers walk to their parked cars and, after they get in the vehicle, they notice a $100 bill in the windshield. The driver exits the car with the door open to retrieve it, only to have a thief steal the vehicle.
Karen Straughn, Maryland Assistant Attorney General – Consumer Protection, wants the public to be aware of it, as reported by ABC affiliate WJLA-TV in Washington. Straughn said an unknown resident, during a public information safety session in Baltimore County, informed her of one incident, but Straughn said she has not seen a police report about it.
"But because it's something of a frightening nature, if this happens to someone, we hope they will take the proper precautions," Straughn told ABC News.
A spokesman for the Prince George's County Police Department said there is no record of this scam taking place in that area.
The Baltimore County Police Department's auto theft task force told ABC News that while it has not seen the $100 bill scam at this time, "We have seen incidents where auto thieves will bump the back of someone's car in traffic. When everyone gets out of their cars, a thief will jump in the victim's car and drive off," a police department spokesman said.
Straughn said she is aware that the scam is touted online as an urban legend, but she wants to warn the public as a precautionary measure.
There are a couple other scams involving drivers in parking lots that Straughn wants the public to be aware.
"With the fact that the holidays are coming up and more shopping, we believe this is something that could occur in this period of time," she said.
According to Straughn, other schemes involve scammers approaching a car owner in a parking lot, asking if they can help repair a vehicle's "ding or dent" for an amount such as $200.
After the scammer completes the job, one of two things can occur: The owner will drive away and realize days later the shoddy job, such as peeling paint.
"They drive away and you can't catch them," Straughn said. "This is something that's more common in our [suburban] area, particularly with holiday shopping."
In other cases, the scammer will dispute the agreed amount and demand a larger sum, such as $2,000.
"One scammer went as far as to drive the individual to the bank," she said, adding the incident was reported to the police and the thief was caught.
